Went second pick overall, won ROY, but missed a star game as a rookie. The one thing I think they nailed, is the skill level/progression. The career landmarks / progression could be a bit more fleshed out, and there are some glitches, but I have no regrets, great fun. Like I said I don't play franchise or online, so I have no complaints. The actual gameplay is really enjoyable, and it's fun progressing th career and not having to grind just to make open jumpshots. This year I was going to do the same but took a chance on live instead. After the shitty spike lee story, and the grind making the game just unenjoyable, I skipped 2k17. Played every 2k until 16, and I pretty much only play my career since it came about. Every NBA live until 2k3 I think was when i switched. I have been playing NBA games since Lakers vs Celtics. Definitely give it a try if you're feeling like moving on from 2K. They've made lots of strides since 14 dropped. Offensively the game is smooth, dribbling feels good once you get used to it. You are rewarded for staying in front of your man.

It's definitely more simple than 2K, but it works well.

Some gamers might opt for EA’s product because of it’s inclusion of all 12 WNBA teams. EA is back with its basketball game NBA Live 18 after taking last year off, and 2K continues its annual tradition with NBA 2K18. 2K has always lacked the immersion for me, so I was willing to sacrifice some gameplay for a better overall experience. NBA 2K18 and NBA Live 18 both put in a great effort at providing that with their player ratings. The crowd chants defense, they cheer when you hit a big shot, it really feels like you're in an NBA game. That being said, the atmosphere in Live has always been superior to 2K in my opinion. They really fixed up the loose ends and made a good game this year. I think this is the first year that Live's gameplay has actually been good enough to where I can see myself playing it and not getting cheated because of quality. The gameplay is solid but I've played it so much that I needed something new. But playing every 2K since 11 got me burned out. Don't get me wrong, they make a hell of a game. Jumped on the EA bandwagon with Live 10, had my money down for Elite 11 until they axed it. I've been playing basketball sims somewhat seriously since 2k9.
